Who Is Botox Cosmetic For?

Botox is for anyone who wants to be proactive in slowing down the aging process, as well as those who have current visible agin signs they'd like to get rid of. So in other words if you're not a fan of wrinkles, then Botox is for you!

Clients ranging from ages 18-60 swear by this highly effective treatment for one major reason: It works! If you're not sure when you should start Botox, we typically recommend going under the needle then you start to notice fine lines forming during rest (when you aren't'; making facial expressions), or if you notice deep lines forming when you make expressions and want to make sure they don't stay there. however, the right time is really different for everyone! Our specialists can talk you through your option during your free consultation.

Prevention VS. Correction

As any aesthetic dermatologist will tell you, prevention is always preferable to correction! The good news is that Botox works for both. It's most effective on wrinkles that haven't quiet set in yet and can reduce the onset of wrinkles before they become moderate or severe. By combining Botox with a good skincare regimen, daily sunscreen and a healthy lifestyle you can prevent most wrinkles from getting worse AND prevent new ones from forming.

What You Can Expect

What you can expect? Results, babe. That's what! You'll start seeing results within three to seven days, and they'll reach their peak effectiveness in about two weeks. After that two week mark, the strength of the Botox will gradually become less intense. In about two to four months, it'll bne time for another treatment.

Step One: Your Free Consultation

You'll start your Botox experience by having a free consultation with one of our specialists. There, they will assess your skincare goals and areas you're looking to treat, and answer any questions you might have.

Step Two: Your Treatment

Botox appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, but the actual treatment time can definitely be shorter. The area(s) being treated will receive six to eight Botox injections depending on your preferences. After the Botox injections, you'll be asked to frown, raise your eyebrows, smile, and/or pucker your lips. This helps to distribute the Botox evenly throughout the treatment sites. Do Botox Injections hurt? It's just a few seconds of mild discomfort in exchange for a wrinkle-free lifestyle. We use a small 32-gage needle, so you'll feel a slight pinprick, nothing more. We don't use any numbing creams, but we do offer ice packs upon request.

FAQs

What is Botox

Botox is a prescription medicine that is injected into the skin to treat dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are those that form when a muscle is contracted, for example wrinkles on the forehead that appear when the eyebrows are raised or crow’s feet that form when a person smiles widely.

How much does Botox cost?

We charge per unit of Botox. Our regular price when performed by the physician is $15/unit and for members it is 10% off the cost of the Botox. If the Botox is performed by our physician assistant, the regular price is $13.50/unit and for members it is 10% off. Typically a person will need on average about 10-20 units of Botox per area, however some may need more or less. We will be able to give a more accurate price during the consultation with Dr. Desai or the physician assistant during which she will learn which wrinkles bother you most, assess the strength of your muscles and the depth of the wrinkles. Our prices and membership information are listed under the "prices" tab on our website or you may also call our office in Houston for further information.

I don't want to look fake or frozen! How do I ensure that?

(sole practitioner) prides herself on her natural-looking results and is against injecting too many units of Botox that could potentially make someone look "done" as that would also reflect on her work. She and her staff will sit and speak with you about the expected results you are looking for and they always say "I minimize how much I put in the first time because I can always go back and add more if I need to!" Keep in mind, Botox is also temporary and will fade away after 3-4 months, on average.

What else can Botox be used for

Botox is a "magic" medication that can be used not only to erase fine lines and wrinkles from places such as the forehead, glabella, crow's feet/eyes, marionette lines and neck lines- but so much more! We use it to treat bruxism or teeth grinding, facial slimming to make more of a "V" shape to the face vs round or square, gummy smile (where too much of the gums show when smiling), Botox lip flip to make the appearance of a fuller lip without actual lip injections, under eye bulge for those who have a bulge under their eyes when they smile causing the eyes to look smaller and puffier than they are, and Botox can also be used to prevent scar formation! Visit our Instagram page for more of these before and after photos or give our office in Houston a call to set up a consultation to see how Botox can help you.

Is Botox Safe?

Botox is an FDA approved medication used for the treatment of moderate to severe forehead, glabellar, and periorbital (crow’s feet) wrinkles. Botox is safe if performed by a trained medical professional. You should always ensure you are being seen and evaluated by a physician or physician assistant during or prior to the Botox administration. There are adverse effects with Botox as with any medication, however these adverse effects are minimal if the treatment is performed by a trained medical professional and if post treatment instructions are carefully followed.

How long does Botox last once injected?

Studies show varying ranges of efficacy but in general the effects of Botox tend to last 3-4 months. Depending on which muscles the Botox is injected into, these effects can last for a shorter or longer period of time. After the Botox wears off, your lines and wrinkles will come back again just as they were before the Botox.

I have a special event coming up. When should I receive Botox in time for my event?

We recommend you come in for your Botox procedure about one month before your event. The full effect of the Botox takes around two weeks. Coming in one month ahead of time will allow sufficient time for any touch ups required at the two week mark.

How long does Botox treatment take?

This depends on what areas and how many areas you would like to be treated. Each Botox treatment area can generally take about 10 minutes. These can even be done during your lunch break from work as there is no down time post treatment and no one will even know you got injected!

FAQ image

When will I see results?

Results are not immediate. You will start to see some results about 5-7 days after injection and should expect to see the full effect of the Botox at 14 days. We recommend you wait until after the full 14 days for any touchups, and not before.

Does the Botox treatment hurt?

We use the smallest needles available and most patients do not require any numbing. If you experience discomfort, we provide different options to make the Botox treatment as comfortable as possible for you.

Are there any side effects?

Some side effects are expected with any time a needle is inserted into the skin- i.e. pain, swelling, bruising. More serious side effects can occur if the Botox treatment is performed by an inexperienced injector or if post treatment instructions are not carefully followed. These side effects can include a droopy eyelid or a droopy eyebrow. For these reasons and more, it is highly advised to seek a highly trained physician or nurse to perform Botox injections.
