Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal

That night in college. Your crazy ex. That time you were "going through a phase." We all have regrets, but if yours are in the form of an unwanted tattoo, we've got you covered. Laser Tattoo Removal is quick, easy, and noninvasive thanks to our advanced laser technology. Here's just a few reasons we love it:

  • Targets your ink while leaving surrounding areas unaffected

  • Leaves your skin looking uniform & natural

  • Is noninvasive & non-surgical

  • Works on all skin types

  • Produces dramatic results with multiple sessions

Why This?

While we know you want to ditch that ink like yesterday, Laser tattoo removal is a gradual process that depends largely on your tattoo's location, depth, density, and ink colors. for example, black ink is the easiest for our laser to target, whereas colored ink can be a bit more complicated. When you come in for your free consultation, one of our specialists will walk you through the process and help determine the predicted number of treatments your tattoo is expected to take to fade or be removed.

Step One: Your Free Consultation

You'll start your tattoo removal experience with a free consultation with one of our specialists. during this time, they will assess your tattoo's location, depth, density, and color to predict approximately how many treatments are expected for your tattoo to fade or be removed.

Step Two: Your Appointment

At the beginning of your appointment, your clinician will apply an anesthetic cream to the area of your tattoo. You'll also be given protective eye gear and a cooling device. once the anesthetic cream starts doing its thing, your clinician will get to work, using the laser to deliver pulses to the tattoo's pigment. Is it painful? it can be a bit uncomfortable but most people find it totally tolerable - it's often described as a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin. The amount of laser pulses depends on the tattoo's size, but most treatment sessions only last a few minutes. Once your treatment is over, you'll need to begin the after-care process right away. Get a full rundown of what that looks like (plus what you need to do before your treatments) below!

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

So glad you asked! Laser Tattoo Removal is pretty simple - our lasers use light and heat to selectively break up and disperse tattoo pigment while leaving surrounding areas unaffected, a process called selective photothermolysis.

Laser Tattoo Removal works by targeting pigment colors in the skin's dermis, which lies between your outer layer of skin (epidermis) and the tissue beneath. The tattoo pigments absorb the laser's beam, breaking up into tiny fragments. Your body then naturally absorbs these fragments and eliminates them.

We primarily use the Astanza Duality, a state-of-the-art dual wavelength Q-switch laser that produces light pulses of extremely high peak power. Because Q-switch lasers are so precise and intense, tattoo pigments fragment instantly, and the surrounding tissue is spared.

FAQs

What laser technology is used to removal tattoos?

We maintain the most comprehensive Q-switched laser technology – allowing us to effectively treat all ink types and skin types. (Medspa name) offers high powered Q-switched Nd: YAG (1064 nm) and Alexandrite (755 nm) lasers. We couple our laser technology with the most aggressive cooling system on the marketplace – the Zimmer Cryo 6. Taken together, we provide excellent protection to the skin while also providing the highest levels of tattoo removal.

How does it work?

In order to remove a tattoo, we must break apart the ink so that it becomes small enough for the body to absorb and to remove. An active Q-switched laser produces light over very short durations of time – just billionths of a second. By applying light over such shot periods of time, we can cause what is known as a photoacoustic effect, effectively shattering ink with light. By doing so, we make the ink small enough for the body to absorb and to remove.

Why do you need different laser systems?

Different ink colors absorb different wavelengths of light. For example, when treating blue or green ink, best results are attained by using red light from our Q-switched Alexandrite laser, as the energy produced from an Nd: YAG laser is not as effectively absorbed by that color ink. Conversely, red ink best absorbs green light from our KTP laser. We must have effective ink absorption as otherwise the tattoo will not shatter and therefore cannot be effectively removed by the body.

How does the body remove the ink

It is believed that ink from your tattoo is removed by the body’s lymphatic system. The ink is then largely excreted as waste matter. Some ink is known to resolve itself within the lymph nodes, but interestingly, much of the ink from preexisting tattoos has already been moved to your lymph nodes – which is one reason why tattoos lighten over time.

Are multiple sessions needed?

Generally, you should expect a series of 3 – 10 treatments; although, some ink may be completely removed after just one or two treatments. Ink response will vary given the compounds which comprise your ink, the depth of ink, its age, as well as its color and location.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Within about 30 minutes post treatment, most individuals will experience excellent redness of the treated area as well as slight swelling (edema). In addition, you should expect the treated area to feel hot, which may be alleviated with cold compress or ice. The following day, you may experience blistering and minor soreness.

How much does it typically cost?
